TrustedMentors

2023 Year in Review

2023 can be summed up in one phrase – Change and Growth!

We started off the year by adding a new employee, McKenzie Hampton. She’s done amazing work this year, and we’re looking forward to even better things from her in the future! We also hosted a Mentor Recognition Night, where stories of personal growth uplifted everyone who heard them.

The announcement of founder Jeri Warner’s retirement brought more change to the organization. She was honored by the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) for her many years of service to the Indianapolis community. We held two retirement events so that we could reach as many people connected to Trusted Mentors as possible, and we onboarded our new Executive Director, Costeena Weathersby.

Costeena envisioned several ways for Trusted Mentors to grow, and has worked to implement them. She has nearly doubled the number of partnering relationships, and her previous experience allowed her to see where a realignment of staff and work would benefit the organization.

We finished up the year with our annual outing to the Indianapolis Indians for our Fall Mentor/Mentee Recognition Night, and we held a successful Ghoulish Gala on Friday October 13th!

We are looking for more change and growth in 2024! We hope to make 200 Mentor/Mentee matches, and to help do that we have hired 2 new staff members! We look forward to introducing them to you early next year. We have a new website under construction and new partnering agencies joining us daily. As a reminder we’re always looking for new mentors – please let us know if you know someone who would like to help another person grow and change in 2024.

Huge thanks to all of our mentors, mentees, trainers, sponsors, and donors – because of your continued support, we are looking forward to a bright 2024!
